🧠 MINDSET SHIFT: Trust is your ticket for your ministry transition.
The job search is changing constantly.
In 2020, COVID made remote interviews normal.
In 2022, layoffs abounded and quiet quitting… remember that?
In 2023, LinkedIn added close to 100 million users, making it a more common place to network and represent yourself online.
In 2024, ChatGPT became more functional.
In 2025, AI became normal to use in the job search. Anywhere from 30-65% (depending on the study) of job seekers used AI in their applications.
In 2026, the name of the game is TRUST.
At the end of 2025, trust in AI is deflating.
Recruiters basically assume that you’re using AI to create your resumes now.
AI doesn’t distinguish you anymore, it makes you look just like everyone else… if you use it the wrong way.
The goal in 2026 is to be more authentic, more creative, and more human. That will create more trust.
♟️ STRATEGY SHIFT: 3 strategies to use in 2026 for your pastor career change.
Here’s what we’re going to be doubling down on in the Interview Accelerator in 2026.
Clarity on job types with a focus on functions.
Reach outs.
Using AI strategically.
Let’s go deeper.
Clarity on Job Types focusing on Functions.
20% of jobs hired in the U.S. today didn’t exist in 2000. By 2030, 85% of college graduates will be working in jobs that don’t exist right now.
Here’s what that really means if you dig below the surface:
Many jobs will have completely different titles, but be a fresh and new blend of similar responsibilities.
That means that functionally, the same skills and expertise will be required, but just in a new way.
That’s why we’re going to focus on types of jobs in addition to titles.
And that’s why we’re going to focus on job functions on top of what they’re titled.
Reach Outs
In 2023, you had a 2-3% chance of getting an interview from a cold application.
In 2024, that became 1-3%.
In 2025, it was less than 1%.
See the pattern?
Not only do cold applications rarely work, but they’re also working less and less.
That’s why we will be spending more time focusing on high-quality and quantity of reach outs. Sending emails, texts, and phone calls to people who can actually help and influence getting an interview.
Using AI strategically.
What AI is very good at is analyzing quantitative (numbers) and qualitative (words and themes) patterns, and then helping us understand them.
Actually, it’s much better at that than content creation.
In 2026, the x-factor of AI will be to know how to use it to increase your speed of high-quality applications by understanding what hiring teams are actually looking for and what you bring to the table.
This is how we currently do this in the Interview Accelerator:
Feed AI (we use Claude rather than ChatGPT) information about the jobs we want to apply to.
Feed it information about our background.
Then, instead of asking it to write, we ask it to analyze. Pulling out the commonalities, gaps, and noting areas for improvement on resumes.
Then our clients take that information, update their resume, and run the process again until it scores above a 90% match to the job description.
This method has assisted people in the Interview Accelerator get interviews for every 2-3 jobs they are applying for!
Here’s the bottom line.
Successful job searching in 2026 will require clarity, connection, and strategy. Without those, you’ll be more likely to blend in with everyone else than stand out.
✅ DO THIS RIGHT NOW: Audit your job search strategy.
Take a look at your strategy from 2025. What has it looked like?
Evaluate what you’re missing from these three strategies.
Make a plan to add that to your strategy right now.
🚀 FROM THE COACHING GROUP
I heard back from a hiring manager for a process I’m in… short version is I’m expecting an offer by early January. Feels like a little pressure valve release and still gives me time to follow through on a couple other interview steps to gain more insight on other opportunities I’ve applied for.
